Four Season's Maui - Heaven on Earth!

I have just booked another week at the Four Season's Maui, and this will be my 4th visit. Yes, it's one of those rare and special places on this earth that is worth visiting on a regular basis.
Although most avid travelers love to adventure and seek out the next great resort, it's certainly hard to imagine a resort that offers such a perfect vacation experience. This is such an amazing resort on such an amazing island.
About the resort:
I won't bore you with the number of rooms on property, and some of the technical spec's like Sq Feet in the conference room, and all of the extra services they offer... I'll leave that to their website: http://www.fourseasons.com/maui/
The resort experience starts when you're greeted at the lobby. Everyone is so nice and attentive. When you arrive in your room, they have hawaiian music playing, ice in the ice bucket, and the room is absolutely perfect. Your vacation starts immediately!
I have stayed with my wife in a couple of different room set ups including partial ocean view, and mountain view. For my money, I really enjoy the mountain view. It's about a 25-30% discount to the partial ocean view, and is actually a larger, more comfortable room. Although it's great to view the ocean, I found that we spent most of the time out by the pool, on the beach, or exploring the island. Really, the only time we were really in the room was when we it was dark, and we were ready to get some rest.
Resort Activities:
- Tennis: Not the best tennis courts on the planet, but we had a lot of fun playing there. It's one of those carpets with sand, so the ball is a little slow. Also, it gets hot very fast, so it's difficult to play long if you're not acclimated to the heat. That said, we enjoyed a great lesson, and have enjoyed the tennis often
- Snorkeling: You can grab a mask and fins on your way to the beach, and it's actually free for the first hour. The reef right off the beach is very good, and you can view hundreds of different fish. I don't know all the different ones, but it's fantastic! We took a few different boat trips for snorkeling, and found that the beach and reef off the resort is as good or better than the boat destination trips.
- Pool: OMG! Get there early and grab a tent poolside for the day. The nice people from the resort bring by pineapple, evian spritzers, water, cocktails, food, massage... just about anything you could ever want! It's a great way to spend a full day of complete luxury and relaxation. The view is spectacular, and the service is amazing.
- Dining: Well.... Spago is fantastic. We enjoyed about 5 dinners over our many trips, and it's always a perfect evening. The lanai overlooks the ocean, you feel the warm gentle sea breeze, hear the waves, see the torches, hear the torch guy blow the conch shell horn, and smell the flowers of Maui. The food is amazing, wine list is superb, service is perfect. That said, it's very expensive. You'll drop around $100-200 per person, depending on the wine you select. If you don't drink, you can probably get out of there for about $40-50 ea.
- Exercise: The best exercise is probably the walk along the beach which runs from Kehei to Wailea. It's probably 2 miles if you take the full loop, and a great way to start out the day. I love to take this walk around 7 AM when it's still cool enough to enjoy, and still not crowded. It does get very crowded by 8:30. My last walk was back in early March, and I had a fantastic view of 3 whales that were swimming from the Lahina side of the island down past McKenna Beach. Everyone was enjoying the show.
I'll add more to this blog post, and tell you more about the Island of Maui. Stay tuned, and I look forward to seeing you back here!
